The Scots are a very proud and independent people. Even though they are part of the U. K. they maintain their own parliament and monetary system. The Scottish pound is tied to the English pound and has the same value. Pictured is the Stone of Destiny upon which all Scottish kings were inaugurated, until it was stolen by the English in 1296, it was returned to Scotland in 1996. It now resides within Edinburgh Castle.
